Electric Changes Everything

Better Place has an ambitious mission - to live free from oil dependence and re-engineer the intersection of people, the planet and prosperity. We saw this as one of those rare moments of great human achievement. When humanity sets out to do something and, against the odds, changes everything.

Odopod was asked to raise awareness of Better Place and its mission in order to create demand for viable electric-powered transportation in regions throughout the world. Our assignment was two-fold:

1) Create an online groundswell that would capture the urgent need to act today, create an even bigger global community around Better Place, and catalyze a sense of empowerment around the brand and its mission. 2) Design a corporate site that informs and inspires a broad range of influencers - from government policymakers, automakers utility companies and the general public.

In response to the first need, we created “10 Words.” Advocates for change create a minifesto to end oil dependency. It’s simple: write 10 words or less, make a couple of choices and receive an animated badge to embed on your blog or email.

For the corporate site, we designed and built an ExpressionEngine back-end that makes it easy for BetterPlace to keep the site fresh with breaking news about the company and industry. We also created custom Flash content modules to tell the story of BetterPlace. A robust Press Room, community forum and custom video player complete the site experience.

The real-world innovation that Better Place embodies is exactly the sort of thing that excites our technical team.
