With the explosion of gaming, Target.com wanted to redesign and dramatically expand its video game site. In partnership with Gamespot, they imagined an all-new site that featured Target’s selection of games along with Gamespot’s news, reviews and ratings. The new site would be an ongoing joint effort between the two companies.
Odopod was asked to bring the site to life with visual design, animation and Flash development. Our goal was to balance the immersion and intensity of the gaming experience with the inherent utility of a high-traffic informational website. Featured games appear on the home page as animated "game cards" that expand into rich promotions that draw guests further into the site. The Flash-based navigation encourages interaction by responding to rollover with animated illustrations of game controllers.
The finished product is a site that fulfills the Target brand, but feels uniquely suited to gamers.
