Out of all the sites we created for the MTV award shows platform, the 2006 MTV2 All That Rocks project boasts a couple of hallmark features we love.
In addition to the core awards system, All That Rocks (or, "ATR" as the cool kids like to call it) features content submitted by both users and rock stars alike.
The premise was this: MTV2 came up with a set of categories for all things that really rock. Nominees ran the gamut. Categories ranged from rock stars to emcees; extreme athletes to tech toys; music festivals to video games. Users could not only vote for their favorites, but also log into iFilm to upload a video “Shout Out” to proclaim their love or disdain for each nominee. Shout outs were then posted to the site and category winners were determined by popular vote.
In order to visually convey the true power of rock, we conducted a photo shoot in New York’s legendary CBGB nightclub. The vivid imagery and textures imbue the visual design with a one-of-a-kind look and feel.
Shooting on location at CBGB’s allowed us to capture the true grit of the venue. Dirty, dark, rock ‘n roll.
