Nike entered the skateboarding arena in 2002. There were no big budget commercials or endorsement deals, just a humble introduction of some innovative shoes. Within two years, they were a respected member of the skate community.
Odopod created the first Nike Skateboarding site. It was an introduction to the brand and the shoes.
By 2004, it was time for us to rethink the site. We wanted to make it easier for sneakerheads and skaters to view the goods and to meet the team. First, we built a shoe browser. It brings the new and old colorways for every shoe together in one place. The personality and style of the team riders was a big asset. We brought them to life with interactive photographic puppets, each in its own environment. We also made it simpler to publish news, photos and video of the team riders in action.
Finally, to reach all the Nike fans overseas, we updated the site monthly in five languages.
We wanted the quirky personalities and style of the team to come through. So we created these insane interactive dolls.
