When Seattle Children’s Hospital decided to refresh their brand identity in conjunction with their 100th anniversary, they decided to re-invent their web presence as well. Over the years, different divisions, department and organizations within the hospital had created twenty-three separate sites. Though each had unique and relevant objectives, these balkanized sites confused web visitors and led to tremendous inefficiencies.
Seattle Children’s turned to Odopod to help them unify their new brand digitally and re-organize all twenty-three separate sites into a cohesive single system.
The site needed to work better for the range of different visitors, as well as serve the needs of the myriad of organizations that needed to be represented.
We identified three primary visitor types and designed the new site to serve each of their unique needs. For visitors who happen upon Seattle Children’s content through a referral, we knew their experience needed to be clear, quick and focused. For visitors wanting to find information specific to Seattle Children’s, we designed an experience that would expose them to the breadth of information and services Seattle Children’s offers. For new and continuing patients, we aggregated particularly relevant information and applications into a need-based portal to speed and optimize their interactions.
We wrapped all these experiences up into a scalable set of a styles and templates and a fresh, web-specific visual design that complements their new identity perfectly.
Overall, Odopod has created a beautiful, functional and flexible website. This is due in part to their balanced mix of process, creativity and willingness to dive deep to understand what drives Seattle Children’s.
