To take advantage of consumer enthusiasm for connected devices, Sub-Zero Group sought to develop a mobile application for owners of its appliances.
Since it is a luxury appliance manufacturer/distributor, Sub-Zero Group has few opportunities to interact with its appliance buyers. Creating a mobile application was therefore a golden opportunity for the company to offer customers additional services while gaining access to data on their usage habits.
Control appliances remotely
Nurun developed an application that would let users control their appliances remotely with peace of mind while also facilitating Sub-Zero Group’s relationship with buyers.
Transparent management of complex channels for users.
The project began with a proof-of-concept stage to validate the connection between the application, electronic control unit, and appliance. An SDK, which automatically manages various channels (Bluetooth Low Energy -BLE-, Local Area Network -LAN- or Cloud), was developed to offer an improved user experience.
Secure and user-friendly
The application was then created by building on the SDK. Its complexity is managed in a way that is transparent for the user, who is guided step by step in its usage. We paid special attention to security to minimize the risk of the application being taken over remotely (initial BLE pairing is required to connect clients to their product). It is also equipped with a diagnostic feature that informs users of any connection problems and guides them in solving them.
